At The Store The Bells Are Ringing
At the store the bells are ringing,
Twinkling lights proclaim the time
When the children’s choir is singing;
Santy Claus explains in rhyme.
In long queues, outside the doorway
Children with their parents wait
To tell the Santy on that day
To come to them and not be late.
Then the Santy in his kindness
Sits the littlies on his knee
Casting off their soul from blindness
So that dreams of love they’ll see.
He then asks them, kind as ever,
“What’s your name, my little one?”
And with smiles and great endeavour
They will tell him. It’s great fun,
Asking what they want for Christmas;
And then answers, that he’ll try;
But always fills their hearts with gladness,
And there is no need to cry.
For Santy Claus comes once a year,
That no children should miss out.
On Christmas Day he casts out fear
And teaches us what love’s about.
